Cancellation, refunds and charges

Penalties may apply if you cancel or change your reservation. Penalties can be up to 100% of the amount paid, and deposits are often non-refundable. We recommend purchasing insurance to protect against covered unexpected events. Please check with your Vacations To Go cruise counselor for cancellation and refund policies for Costa Cruises.

Except as otherwise provided in this Contract or unless the Carrier gives the Guest written notice that other terms apply, if the Guest cancels this Contract for any reason, he or she will only be refunded the Cruise Fare or a portion thereof paid depending upon the specific itinerary and when the Contract was canceled. All documents (deposit receipt or passage tickets) issued by Carrier must be returned before any refund can be processed.

Note: Percentage amounts are based on total cruise fare (excluding government fees and taxes).

Fares, charges, fees and taxes

Fares, charges, government fees and taxes are subject to change prior to receipt of payment in full. Fares are in U.S. dollars and are valid for U.S. and Canadian residents only. Unless otherwise noted, fares are per person, based on double occupancy of accommodations selected and subject to availability. Single occupancy may be available in select categories for 180% to 200% of applicable fare. Fares include ocean transportation, stateroom accommodation, all standard meals, entertainment and most activities on board the vessel. Fares do not include items of personal nature, such as spa treatments, salon services, photographs, telephone calls, faxes, internet access, gratuities, shore excursions, wines, liquor, beverages, laundry, butler service, or any other goods or services purchased on board the ship. Costa Cruises may charge cruise fuel supplements of up to $9 per person per day if the NYMEX oil price exceeds $70 per barrel. Cruise only fares do not include (i) the cruise fuel supplement, if any, and (ii) cruise taxes and fees imposed by governmental or quasi-governmental authorities, such as fees levied for embarkation, disembarkation or landing, arrival or departure taxes, security surcharges, passenger facility charges, and customs and immigration fees, which depend on the sailing and are described on the booking pages of this website.

Taxes in the United States: When ships are docked in ports in the United States, 20% is added to the price of drinks consumed on board.

Gratuities and hotel service charges

The service charge, which is calculated on a daily basis according to the length of the cruise, the destination and the ship, is used to provide incentive to staff who perform hotel duties and to continually improve the quality of service offered onboard Costa Cruises ships. The service charge is an integral part of the cruise and therefore the amount cannot be altered. As a convenience, Costa Cruises will add a modest service charge per person, per day to the onboard account as a gratuity for cabin and dining services. Bartenders, servers, deck stewards and other staff may be tipped as service is received. A 15% gratuity is added to beverage purchases which are added to the onboard account.
